According to the latest USDA crop progress report, the harvest of corn and soybeans is progressing well. Around 45% of the corn and 62% of the soybeans have already been harvested, which is slightly above the average for the past five years. This indicates that the pressure on the markets due to the harvest might ease in the upcoming weeks. Unfortunately, the rainfall in corn and soybean country during September was the second lowest recorded since 1952, and the drought continues to persist. However, there is some good news. Based on historical data, it is unlikely that the final yields for corn and soybeans will be significantly worse than what was predicted by the USDA last week. In fact, there is a possibility that they may even be slightly better.
