So as you and your mothers probably know, Russia backed out of the United Nations grain deal earlier this month which is drastically curbing Ukraine exports. Ukraine is a major exporter of wheat, corn and some oilseeds. And at least as of today, Russia does not seem to be in a hurry to renew the deal which is underpinning the grain markets. But certainly also not helping has been the crop challenges in the U.S. After improving earlier this month, grain conditions have flatlined or even deteriorated. Corn, soybeans and spring wheat prices all rose to multi-week highs last week with soybean oil the most expensive since October.
