You know what's not getting better? Hamburger costs! Lean beef trim prices continued to firm last week with 90 trim the most expensive, not involving Covid, since Todd Frazier won the Home Run Derby in July 2015. Add to this the near record prices for fat trim and the cost to produce hamburger is nearing a record high. Note the chart below which compares the boneless skinless chicken breast market versus the cost to make hamburger. The ratio is historically low suggesting that chicken breast is way undervalued to hamburger which could spur chicken feature activity.
