That’s driven wages up, adding pressure to food costs. However, as the chart above shows, wage inflation in transportation and warehousing, food manufacturing, and foodservice in general in 2024 was surprisingly moderate—kind of like the Patriots post-Brady (says the Steelers fan).  On the flip side, employment in limited-service restaurants stayed lean, with wage inflation coming in as the second strongest on record.
